Sea View Yacht Club - Background

The Sea View Yacht Club was established in 1893 and sailing has taken place off our clubhouse ever since.

We are an unusual club in that we own a fleet of keel boats known as Mermaids. The fleet is available to charter and throughout the summer the boats are sailed regularly. Often three times a day, every day. Members also sail the boats both in the evenings in midweek and over the weekends.

We are also the home to a fleet of clinker built dinghies. These are called Seaview One Designs or SVODs and the fleet was founded in 1931. The fleet is now just under 200 in number and is the largest one-design fleet on the South coast.

We also have an active handicap class, Optimist class and cruiser class.
